The Waiting Period

There is a waiting period in most states. For example, Michigan has a waiting period for all divorces; it is 180 days (6 months) for divorces with children and 60 days (2 months) for divorces without children. Visit our State Divorce Law Page to see the Waiting Period for your State.

Service To The Defendant

After your spouse has been "Served" with the divorce papers, and proof of that filing is given to the court, you can set your court date for your final hearing. You have only one court hearing in an uncontested divorce; which usually lasts around 15-20 minutes. We also include in our service as a FREE GIFT, a "Sample Testimony" sheet that will help you with what to say when you are in the courtroom. It is FREE with our service. With Agreed or Default divorces there is a much better chance of keeping a simple case simple. YOU ARE COMPLETELY IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN CASE, NOT THE LAWYER.
