How-To Make Adjustments to Your Divorce Forms Tutorial

Step 1: Make sure you have your forms and have read them throughly.

Reminder: You are in charge of your own case. You are responsible for what the divorce forms say about what you want to do in your divorce. Therefore, you should have them say what you want them to say about how to handle the property and the children.

Now it's time to do adjustments. Write us an email to:

Step 2: In the email, state your adjustments in 1,2,3 order. Such as:

1. Please adjust my last name from Smith to Smyth.

2. Please adjust my address from 123 Oak St. to 123 Cedar St.

3. On the Complaint for Divorce form, in the child support section, please adjust the child support amount from $300 a month to $150 bi-weekly.

4. On the Marital Settlement Agreement form, in the property section, please make the Defendant responsible for the credit card (5847) debt.

Step 3: The key to this adjustment process is stating your adjustments in a CLEAR, CONCISE, AND EASY FORMAT. Basically, making it easy for the Paperwork Processor to make the adjustments quickly.

Step 4: At this point, it is also a good time to ask any questions you may have that pertain to your papers. Remember, we do NOT give any legal advice. We cannot give you any information on how you should structure you case. That is what lawyers get paid to do. If you have any questions about the legal matters of your case, we encourage you to see a lawyer. Once you have the answers you are looking for, you can always come back and have us adjust the forms to be exactly what you want. No problem.

Step 5: When you have all of these things written in an email; send it to us. We will give you a confirmation email back, when we receive your adjustments. The confirmation email will usually come within 24-48 business hours (M-F).

Step 6: When you get the adjusted forms back, this is the time to look over your documents again, and make sure they say what you want them to say. Repeat the adjustment process if needed.

Step 7: Follow the Final Instructions and file the forms at your Local County Courthouse. Good Luck.

Remember: We always do adjustments for free. So, if you need us, we will be here.
